Ubud to Pemuteran

Farewell Ubud

It’s been a week long stay for us in Ubud and it’s time to move on. We would recommend our homestay if you are planning to come Ubud.  Ayu Bungalow 2 was located centrally and close to Monkey Forest (not too close for unwanted visitors) and to all the little laneways with family run warungs which we love.

Our driver Dua was right on time and picked us up from our homestay for our 4 hour trip to Pemuteran.  We made some stops along the way which included The Temple on the Lake, Git Git  Waterfalls, Twin Lakes and The Holy Hot Springs. The locals believe that the sulphur mineral waters have special healing powers for whatever ails you.  I asked if it would make me look younger and he just looked at me and said ‘no’.  Well that put paid to me going for a dip.

If you ever need an honest, helpful and reasonable driver in Bali, you can look him up on Facebook komang utari ariani duarsa.

We arrived in Pemuteran around 1pm and managed to have time to have a look around for the rest of the afternoon.  It is certainly a world away from Ubud and has a laid back feeling.  There are more and more resorts springing up but you can still hunt out the cheap eats with local family run warungs.

Our homestay host at Mango Tree Inn was extremely helpful and bartered a good price for our snorkelling trip the next day.  The snorkelling was the main reason for our visit as it is supposed to be one of the best spots in Bali.  More on that trip in my next blog.

  1. Love it. Gives me lots of ideas for my next visit. Really inspiring and interesting blog. Safe travels for you both.

    • Thanks Robyn, I hope the rest of your stay in Ubud went well. There’s certainly alot more to Bali than meets the eye. Keep peeling back the layers.

  2. Carly went diving on the Komodo dragons trip out of Flores and said it was spectacular. so much to see and do but you have no constraints on time – what a nice position to be in !!

    • I remember her doing that…..only constraint is budget! We’re heading to the Lombok region next so will have to consult the spreadsheet….lol.
